Generally referred to as Hot Work Tool Steels, these are steels used in molds and tools that operate at high temperatures (200°C and above). They are capable of retaining their hardness and strength at high temperatures and contain alloying elements such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium, and cobalt. It is expected that hot work steels possess high toughness/ductility, temper resistance, and high-temperature strength. Their primary applications include hot forging, casting (metal injection), and extrusion.
